Jason McCash - The Gates of Slumber

Jason McCash is best known as the bassist, co-songwriter and co-lyricist for The Gates Of Slumber, who have combined a mastery of true doom and penchant for contemplative, viscerally direct and reverent classic rock/metal to much acclaim. Their albums regularly appear in Decibel Magazine's Year-End lists.

Despite living, breathing and touring as a genuinely underground act (with the devastated bank accounts to show for it), the band has been written about by the likes of Spin, Brooklyn Vegan and Pitchfork. The Gates of Slumber are a staple at international metal festivals. Their diehard fans obsessively collect each and every artifact the group releases into the ether.

McCash's fluid, dynamic, moving and masterful bass playing lays the groundwork for the band's chest-thumping sound. McCash is a student of Butler, Harris and "Blacky" from Voivod in equal measure, playing along to classic records from across the decades of true heavy metal. He cut his teeth in seminal underground metal/hardcore act Burn It Down, whose solitary full-length heralded a burgeoning scene and was awarded 4 "K"s in Kerrang and 4/5 in AP and also in his down time from his duties in The Gates of Slumber, he also performs as the live Bass Player for the Chicago based Chrome Waves.
