Schecter Gives Back
Hey Guys,
I noticed that we haven't been very active on our blog here, so I figured I would dust it off today and tell you a little about the amazing experience I had this past weekend. Here at Schecter we are always stoked to help with a good cause out there and this weekend I got the chance to deliver a guitar to a very special fan at METALFEST in San Bernardino. We have worked with numerous charities in the past and I have personally helped out with some really cool guitar raffles and giveaways to help raise funds for cancer research and helping the homeless and the like, but I have yet to work with Make A Wish Foundation and have the opportunity to see the pure joy and excitement on someones face when they are literally living out their wish. Cue Cody, Cody is 16, he has a rare neurodegenerative disease called Niemann Pick type-C, It's basically a pediatric form of Alzheimer's that effects the nervous system. Cody and his family arrived at METALFEST in style as the long white limo pulled up and dropped them off. As I first introduced myself I could see the anticipation on Cody's face, he had no idea we were giving him a guitar to be signed by his favorite band Asking Alexandria. We met with the bands manager and were escorted through the rows of tour buses to the appropriate door to knock on at which point the band members, minus the drummer, materialized and met the full barrage of accolades and questions that Cody had stored up. The guys from Asking Alexandria were awesome and Cody was having a great time getting to know them. I have to say I was a little nervous when the time came to present Cody with his new Schecter to have signed by the band, as I didn't want to interrupt this awesome meet and greet, but the look on his face confirmed that this was definitely the right time. I can't recall the last time I have witnessed such genuine surprise and excitement.. well maybe that time with Marilyn Manson in Vegas, but that's a whole other blog. At any rate, I got to see Cody's wish come true and that was really a special moment that I will never forget and another reason why I love working for Schecter. Oh, and he even caught up with AA drummer James Cassells to sign his guitar after the show, pure awesomeness.
Thanks to: Darla and Make A Wish, Christina at Backstage Artist Lounge, METALFEST, Asking Alexandria, and Cody and family for this great experience.
Cheers,
AJ
