||Being around so many different kinds of models, styles, sizes, and shapes of guitars, which of the models is your favorite Schecter model to play? how many would you say you own personally?
Thanks for the question!
I am directly involved in the model development. From our first original 1997 models, the HELLCAT, AVENGER, and TEMPEST, through our 2013 Damien Platinum’s. This is an area that is one of my personal favorite parts of this job…. And we are sitting on some cool stuff for later this year too. Its tough not to get personally attached to models; I have learned by trial and error that not everything works. But innovation has, and will always be a big part of Schecter. Sometimes it takes a few 'revisions' to get a model right. For years I played Tempests live. I still have a few of our late 90s versions with the P-90s. Over the past few years, the Corsairs (Bigsby version) have become my main guitars. I think I have six of those, including a cool Corsair-12 string. I usually take 3 out to a show, as I have a few different pickups in them. I find my main one still has the Duncan Designed HB101s in it. As I tend to lean to our more retro stuff, on the last reunion show I did with HUMAN DRAMA, I used a pair of our new TSH-1s for the shows, which where in Mexico and required me to fly with my guitars. They fit in a double gig bag, which allowed me to take them on the planes. They worked out extremely well, as my live set-up is with an insane pedal board, which reacts best with lower output pickups. I probably have 20 guitars that are my personal guitars that I use in live and recording situations. The only non-Schecter guitars I still own are a 1960 beat Les Paul TV Special, and a great '62 Epiphone acoustic. I will never part with these, as they will become property of my daughters as a reminder of their Dad!
